A question regarding the expansions
Hello everyone,
I bought the original game back when GW was launched, but I never had time to play it much. Now that GW2 has been announced I thought it'd be nice to give the game another try and play through the campaign (and try to get some titles!). I would, however, prefer to experience the full game content, and I'd be curious to know if there still is an all-in-one option to buy all the expansions for GW? Just before I made this thread I read about the Complete Collection, which apparently is exactly what I'm looking for. Having said that, I can't seem to find it on the Guild Wars web page? I'm probably missing something so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I also have a question regarding the game. Seeing as GW is starting to get pretty old and GW2 is on the horizon, are there still a lot of players left, and do you personally think it's worth starting to play GW at this point? I mean I can probably play through the game even on my own, but if there isn't anyone around I might as well play a single player game instead. The GW site seems to only sell the games by themselves.. perhaps because it'll make more money that way. But try any website that sells games (e.g. play.com) and they should have a good offer, although it may mean you end up buying the campaign you have now twice.
With the introduction of the Hall of Monuments calculator (tells you what rewards you get in GW2 from what you've done in GW, a kind of legacy) GW has become very busy. Especially over halloween the main towns became very congested. I'd still say it's worth it because I think it's a good game, even single player. But if you join a nice guild then I'm sure they'll help you as well. Also, if you're planning on getting GW2 anyway then GW will help you get familiar with the storyline in GW2. |

I think right now may be a great time to get into GW. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's experiencing a renaissance but it has had an uptick of late. Partially from people like you who are just getting more interested in GW1 since GW2 is looming on the horizon.

The NCSoft store is overpriced, you may be able to buy super cheap boxes at game stores or places like Target/Best buy.
Also, your next best bet would be to follow Direct2Drive or Steam. Currently the trilogy sells for 39.99, but both had a sale a few weeks ago, although it's over now, they seem to have them every couple of months if you're willing to wait. |

Best place to buy if you live in the UK is at amazon or play.co.uk ??14.99 is pretty good for all the games.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm from Finland and I was surprised to see the complete collection being sold in several stores. I ordered it for 27,99 euros and I'll go get the box tomorrow. I suppose this is a bit more expensive than some of the other places that were suggested but at least I'll get the game quickly.
Since I'll have all expansions installed from the get-go this time around, I was wondering if I'll still be able to choose which campaign I want to play through first, or do you always start with the official campaign by default? I'd prefer to play through the official campaign first and then the expansions in the order they were released. |

It is all one big game and you can choose to start in Prophecies (Tyria), Factions (Cantha), or Nightfall (Elona). The Eye of the North is truly an expansion and you can go there once your character reaches level 10.

The origional game has been rebranded to prophecies so if you want to play the origional then pick that.

You can add the new box's access key to your original account and upgrade it. That way any characters you have on the old one will still be available with their much earlier creation dates and inventory full of birthday minipets.

I'm curious, is there any account recovery available for GW? I mean I haven't played GW for roughly 5 years so I'm not sure if I'd even be able to guess the account information. I even checked my emails for guild wars related mails but I couldn't find any, which makes me wonder if A-net ever even asked for my e-mail adress during account creation, and if that's the case I'm quite sure I'll be unable to recover my account, which is too bad since I created the account the day GW was launched.

You will also need to remember the character name on the account or get them to send you that as well. |

Account name is your email address. Also anything you can supply will help, such as owner name/address/birthday, character(s) name/profession/approx creation date. Just email [email protected] and put LOST LOGIN INFO in the subject line.

Is it possible to create a new account and then add the new box's access key to the old account afterwards, or is it one key per account? |

You can add the new key to the old account and you will gain any benifits from the new key.

I'm sorry but I still find this a bit confusing. I understand the one key for one account limit, but like I stated in my first post I also have the original game that I pre-ordered when GW was originally released. Doesn't this mean that I should be able to login to my old account without the new key? Or are you saying that the birthday minipets are bound to the GW complete collection activation key somehow? Also, are the pets in question bound to my old characters?

I will try and explain:
Old account - you used your key and have forgotten your login details. This account has your old characters, birthday minis, items etc. New Key - you've ordered a new game key with all the campaigns. You can add the new key to your old account, this will 'upgrade' that account, keeping everything that was originally there and adding the new campaigns. However you need to be able to login to your old account first, so you can add the new key. The other option is to create a new account with the new key, this will be completely separate from the old account and you will not have anything you originally had. I would say it is pretty doubtful that support will be able to get your account info back to you by the weekend. Hopefully soon after though. Things like minipets, items and money can be transfered between accounts though so if eventually you got access to your old account back you could easily move these things to your new account. Alternatively you can wait for support to get back to you, however even if you wait there is no guarantee that you will get your account information. Unless you really want to continue with the characters you previously created then I would just create a new account, with your new key. If you get your other account back you can then transfer any items. |

I managed to get my old account back. The thing is that I haven't been able to figure out how to send items to characters on a different account. It's probably a silly question but I'd still appreciate the help.
